...to the young children of the Ogada Nursery School in Kenya, it’s essential and a big improvement on how it’s been.

Ogada Nursery School

Thanks to the generosity and support of Holy Trinity Junior Football Club, this nursery school of some 30 children between the ages of 4 and 6 years now have a proper latrine under construction. No flush toilets for these young children or their teachers but, when the work is finished, the very deep hole in the ground will have been properly capped off with concrete and a hut erected to give them privacy.

The very deep hole in the ground

For those who have never been to this very poor rural area of western Kenya, it’s hard to imagine how basic life is but, for the children and their teachers, their joy was unrestrained when I was able to tell them that the hard work of digging the very deep hole was going to be rewarded with the completion of a proper latrine.

In addition, with the rest of the £300 given by the Football Club, we were able to supply a further 20 very necessary desks, spread between three nursery schools: Ogada Hursery School, Dunya Nursery School, and the Moral Widows Group.

With each desk able to seat 3 young children, it now means there are 60 young children not having to sit on the floor for their lessons.

I just wish there was a better way to convey the gratitude of all those involved for the support the Club continues to give to them. With very many thanks,

Jim Leftwich
Co-ordinator
