The initiation and subsequent emergence of these schools were spearheaded by the community centres having heart and feeling to support the education of the young children of whom the majority are partial or total orphans as a result of the HIV/AIDS scourge.

Joann's Nursery School

We see the communities offering church buildings to provide space to be used for nursery schools. But because of insufficient resources, young children sit on mats at strategic positions to see what the volunteer teachers write on the chalkboards to grasp knowledge so as to open ways to a brighter future. Amani UK tries to supply resources such as desks and stationery and this encourages the parents / guardians to send these children to school.

Rosemarie's Nursery School

Do you know the challenges? Increased child population in school, further shortages of resources such as books and furniture, and lack of space to fit it all in. Both the communities have thoughts and plans to put up structures through local fundraising but days and nights come and go with no steps towards achieving this due to economic pressure. Rosemarie has made mat partitions for the church to create space for class one. When the teachers are teaching, children sing poems, and talk across the class, this comes out as noise as their voices penetrate the mats creating sound pollution. Children struggle to get something from the teachers through a lot of difficulties. Because of the distance to the other schools, these schools are at strategic points and very accessible to the children.

It is the desire of all to improve these schools to offer a conducive atmosphere for these children to develop their physical and mental wellbeing in their childhood for a better foundation and to become resourceful members of this society in the future. It therefore means that every little resource supplied has a positive impact on the children, teachers, parents, and the community at large. We appreciate the support from Amani UK.
