The two schools have linked easily owing to their initiation at almost the same time and have in the past period received support for Rosemarie and Joann's through Amani UK. Jim Leftwich has spearheaded the plight to source for funds and has always ensured that people from UK visit these schools when they come to Kenya.

Gordon Ross has taken the initiative to link the Kenyan schools with UK schools and the same is happening within Umoja. We really find it easy for the local schools to link as the Kenyan problems and successes are almost the same and any groups or schools would easily accept to link with others as they have similar objectives. A very good example is when children from the Rosemarie Nursery School made a visit to Joann's Nursery School.

The children shared ideas with assistance of the teachers. They recited poems, dances, folk songs etc. In the company of their teachers it was an opportunity to share experiences as each teacher handled a particular subject to ensure active and maximum participation of the children for a better understanding. A teacher was invited from a neighbouring school and joined in the occasion and was impressed and very willing to have the same started in their location.

With just a cup of porridge contributed by the community the children enjoyed the day. It is an important thing for the little children to meet and share what they have learnt with others and it builds their knowledge and makes them learn to have personality that will make them to be useful members of the society in future. We welcome links so that you learn more about the Kenyan schools especially the ones in the rural communities.
