For a period of three years Umoja has been operating in Kachieng community but very few people, especially the ones who are members of our affiliate groups, have known the office site. For other collaborating organizations and Government departments, it is by virtue of common activities undertaken - hence a network forcing their representatives to trace their way into Umoja. For conveniency of all members a sign post has been erected 6 km from Oyugis town on the left, adjacent to Kachieng Primary School sign post.

It bears large font advertisements on the project strategies i.e Food security, Water and sanitation, Health, Education and Shelter, with an arrow directing people to the office just 20m across the road. Installation coincided with the first Annual General Meeting.

Major issues such as Project progress, Group Evaluation results, Project strategies and the Buy a Gift For Kenya Scheme featured strongly. Of particular concern and interest of all was Buy a Gift for Kenya which many members, even some who had benefited from it, could not understand. Through discussions and reports, all members understood Buy a Gift for Kenya and the set criteria for distribution of gifts. All were happy and appreciated the gifts. As a show of teamwork and willingness to work with Umoja all members took photos at the sign post. In all it is the support from Amani UK that has made it possible for these things to happen. We encourage you to continue with the spirit of love and compassion for the poor in this community and urge you to continue with your support.
