A major factor for communities in Kenya is water supply. A mixed group of widows and youths recently organised the hand digging of a well more than 30ft deep.

The next all important step was then to properly cap the well in concrete, together with lining the upper part, so there is no subsequent crumbling of the walls. This then forms the base on which a hand pump can be eventually fixed. In the meantime they will be able to safely draw water by the age-old tradition of rope and bucket.

Thanks to the generosity of an Amani UK supporter from Reading, we were able to fund the capping and lining of this well and the group look forward optimistically to the day when they can pump the water from their well.
